New pricing info

Written by Leann on Mar 13 2010

Several people have been asking lately about how I do pricing.  It can be difficult at times to just give a standard price because every cake is different and unique.

In the next week or so I am going to try and post a Pdf document that will list prices and serving sizes for normal round/square cakes.  If you request a shaped cake (3D) I will try and match it to the closest serving size on that list.

Also, let me mention that I welcome people sending me pictures of what they want.  If you are not sure and just have a “theme” in mind then I will be happy to do a search for you and provide examples.

Thanks for stopping by!

Brother and Sister cakes

Written by Leann on Nov 22 2009

This week was a busy one for my teacher friend who lives in Trussville.  Her daughter had a cheerleading competition followed by her son’s football team playing in the championship.  So I got to make a cake for each one: Go Huskies!

The Best Tasting Blog in Birmingham

Written by Kevin on Oct 21 2009

Welcome to the blog of Art by the Slice!

My name is Kevin, and I’ll be your guide along our cake-filled journey.

They say behind every great man is a great woman.

I say behind every great cake is a great woman. Behind that woman, in the back, sort of in the corner, is a decent husband running the website.

That’s me.

What to Expect

On this blog we will highlight new cakes we have recently finished, and share some behind the scenes cake baking action. We’re going to see where this journey takes us. Maybe we’ll get one of those neat Flip HD video recorders and start a spoof of VH1’s Behind the Music. I would call it “Behind the Cake”.

You’ll get to know the husband and wife team behind Art by the Slice as we share personal stories; we hope to even make you laugh a little.

We hope reading our blog will be more entertaining and engaging than watching a cake in the oven. (No promises.)

For now please excuse our mess — we’re still getting this thing off the ground.
